The "Red" Tower also called the "Tartar" Tower was built in the years 1832-1841. Its colloquial name comes from the time of occupations when Mislims were the citizen of the tower. The garrison command was worried about the conflicts on the religious and ethnic basis and so appointed the tower as the place of the headquaters for the soldiers from Caucasus.
The exterior of the "Red" Tower suggests that its defence character could be misleading. The tower has the "key" ranges, but it is not possible to place any cannon guns next to them because of the lack of platforms.
On the upper terrace of the tower there was an optic telegraph used to communication with the Aleksander Citadel in Warsaw and with St. Petersburg.
The tower is 45 m high above the water. There is a magnificent view on te nearby area, including the ruins of neo-renaissance grannary.
