The Utracka Crown

The "Utracka" Crown was built in teh years 1832-1841. It is placed in the western part of the fortress.
The expansion based on the old crown was made in the Times of the Duchy of Warsaw, which had a deformed bastion features.
Tt may be iteresting to say that the fortress, after making an outside slope on the basis of already existing crowns, was adapted only for the nearest defence. It was was dictated by the loudness of artillery. And the task of the defence was not allowing the opponent t get close to the main slope or get inside the fortress.
The citaddel and the exterior circuit were surrounded by by a shooting wall called the "Carnot Wall". The exterior side of the wall is smooth. It also has vertical holes use as ranges for the infantry. Inside it has niches and iIn each of them are three ranges.
