Redoubt of Napoleon is one of the oldest brick building, which dates from the Duchy of Warsaw. It is a square artillery tower - a gunnery station with a courtyard in the center, built on the basis of the French coastal towers. The gunnery station were built in the back of the Utracka Crown during the development of the Modlin Fortress in 1811. However, at the time of the Napoleonic expedition to Russia, thr building works of the redoubt were ceased.
Further work was started in the years 1814-1815. The first floor rooms were destinated for stores of food, ammunition and water for the crew of 300 soldiers.
the exterior rooms were the combat part. The role of the redoubt crew was the defence of the midfield from the right wing of the "Utracka" Crown the left wing of the "Middle" Crown.
