The Officer Casiono

The palace-like building was designed by Russian architect probably with the cooperation with a Polish architect Piotr Leon Krasinski. The casino for Russian officers was made in the years 1905-1906. The building was built on a plane of a T letter. In the front there is a covered driveway and a terrace on the top. The facade in the form of a rizalite has some features of gothic architecture. In the hall there are two-wings stairs made of white marble with a unique iron balustrade decorated with flowery ornaments and iron grifftins. Thera are two representative rooms: a cinema and theater room with original chandeliers crowned with tsar's crowns and a ballroom richly decorated with wall ornaments.
The buildings was (as for the beginning of the 20th century) very modern. It was equipped with electric lights, its own boiler room and some heaters.
The building was a headquarters of the commandant of the fortress. It was also cultural centre with balls and theatre performances use to take. Moreover, it was a place where important guests were welcomed.
