The Artillery Pen
, Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki

During the barracks' building works a four-level caponier was builte. It was situated to the east of the "Red" Tower and it had over 30 artillery axes and gun ranges. The gunnery station which was built on the plan of an extended "U" letter adheres in the neck wall of the barrack buildings. Its task was to defend the wings of the building barracks. During the hostilities in August 1915, as a result of artillery firing, two higher levels were severely damaged and then pulled down.
In the post-war years in the gunnary station there was a soldiers' casino. On the terrace were dances and cultural events. Its colloquial name "Under the Knight" comes from the figure of a knight cut out of sweet of metal.
From the caponier terrace there is wonderful view on the monumental ruins of the granary, the mouth of the Narew and Vistula Rivers and the vast sandbanks on the Vistula River which are the home of waterfowl.
